NASDAQ: GEMI
Gemini
Gemini is the Winklevoss exchange, public since September 2025. These two seats are the ledger and the platform-security layer under it, not a protocol lab.
You are deciding whether to join a listed exchange on a New York cash band that excludes bonus and equity, with in-person onboarding, a year after an IPO that the market has already repriced.

Blockchain Lab analysis
Public reporting and the employer’s own releases. Not a relationship with Blockchain Lab. Not a credit opinion.
- Founded
- 2014, by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, as the company tells it on the posting. New York.
- Base
- New York, Miami, or remote in the USA if you do not live near a hub. Hybrid at hubs. Everyone onboards in person.
- Status
- Public. Nasdaq: GEMI. The IPO price is not today's price.
- People
- Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. Reuters reported they owned about 75 million shares after the IPO.
Gemini's posting calls itself the bridge between traditional finance and a cryptoeconomy, and it reminds you that it is public. The two seats here are how a public exchange stays a public exchange: a ledger that does not miscount, and the cloud controls around it. The Money engineer is closer to a bank's core than to a DeFi protocol. The staff security engineer is closer to a platform team than to a bounty hunter. Both are on-call jobs. Both require you to show up in person at least for onboarding.
Price the equity against the live print, not against September 2025. The company sold stock at $28 and opened the next day in a way that Reuters marked near $4.4 billion. A year is a long time for an exchange stock. This brief will not type a stale market cap and call it current. The cash bands are real and narrow: they name states, they exclude the bonus and the stock, and they do not even say USD. Miami is a location on the posting and is missing from the security band's sentence. If you live there, the number in the header is not your number until someone writes it down.
Founders
Cameron Winklevoss
Co-founder
Public face of the company with his brother since the start. The IPO story is their story. A staff engineer will not report to him. The equity you receive, if any, is stock in the company they control a large piece of. Ask about the class of share.
Tyler Winklevoss
Co-founder
Same cap table, same debut. Reuters put the brothers' post-IPO holding near 75 million shares. Concentration is the governance fact. It is also why a 'staff' title can still be a small vote.
What the company sells
The exchange
Crypto and Web3 products for individuals and institutions, the posting says, in over 70 countries. That footprint is the company's sentence, not a licence list.
Money
The ledger of record for crypto and fiat balances, fees, rewards, and adjustments, plus bank settlement and reconciliation. That is the senior engineer seat.
Platform security
Python or Go services, AWS and Kubernetes controls as code, CI gates, and an on-call. Not a contract audit.

IPO
$425 million at $28
Reuters: about 15.2 million shares at $28, above a marketed $24–$26 range, proceeds capped at $425 million. Non-diluted value at the IPO price was $3.33 billion by Reuters' calculation. The debut close was reported at about $4.4 billion. Nasdaq took a $50 million private placement at the IPO.
What should change your mind
- Listed stock can go to zero faster than private marks get updated. It can also be sold. Know which one you are being paid in.
- State-specific bands. A Remote (USA) label is not the New York range.
- In-person onboarding is mandatory in the posting.
- Founder concentration. Ask which share class the employee plan uses.
Ask them
- What is today's GEMI price, and what strike would a new grant use?
- Does the New York band apply to Miami and to remote, or only to New York?
- Which hub is onboarding, and how many days a year is hybrid actually?
- Is the Money seat a backfill on the ledger, or a new payments product?
