Prove the fact. Keep the data room closed.

The next Ethereum is being described as a machine for proving claims, not for storing everyone’s files. Businesses need that more than they need another copy of the chain.

Vitalik Buterin has described the architecture after the fork that follows Hegota as something other than a blockchain in the old sense: a hybrid of ledgers and modern cryptography. The public note names FOCIL, EIP-8288, Lean consensus, state work, formal verification, mempool changes including privacy, and, further out, obfuscation. This piece does not pretend those upgrades are live, and it does not recap the essay they come from.

The consequence that matters off the research thread is simple. High-value claims should become provable without exposing all the data underneath them. The question stops being “what do we put on a chain” and becomes “which decision is expensive because nobody will trust a PDF.”
