The fingerprint is the record.
A property token that cannot prove the bytes of the deed is a pointer. The useful object is a versioned evidence graph.
Engineers in the Filecoin ecosystem have shown a working reference, on Avalanche’s Fuji testnet and Filecoin’s Calibration testnet, that binds a property token to a manifest of records: deed, survey, parcel file, tax assessment. The demonstration uses a synthetic property. It is not a land registry.
What it does prove is narrower, and more useful. The exact bytes of a document can be named, stored with a proof that the storage continues, and anchored beside the asset so that a later reader can tell whether the file in their hand is the file the token refers to.
