Quant Developer
A quant who writes the vault strategy, ships it, and wears the pager. The employer says it serves $1.5 billion-plus of client TVL. A 9 July 2026 Series C of $125 million did not disclose a valuation. This posting does not disclose pay.
You are deciding whether to put models into production against client capital, three months after a $125 million Series C from a single investor that did not disclose a valuation.

Apply if
- You have run quantitative code in production — trading, portfolio, market-making, or risk — and the posting's 'often 2–8 years' does not insult you.
- You write Python, and you will not hand the model to someone else to productionise. They forbade that.
- You can work New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or remote. They did not say worldwide.
Do not apply if
- You want a research seat that never deploys.
- You need a salary on the posting.
- You will treat $1.5 billion TVL as your equity value. It is client assets, and it is their figure.
You would own
The strategy, the code, the parameters, and the on-call for what you ship.
You would not own
It does not own a disclosed salary, a Series C valuation, or a promise that remote means every country.
What they wrote, and what we read
Employer stated
Design and ship vault strategies from thesis through live operation. You own them in production.
Reading
The posting says this twice because people miss it. If you will not be on call for your own strategy, do not apply.
Employer stated
Gauntlet serves $1.5B+ in client TVL.
Reading
Employer-stated. The Block, the same month as the Series C, reported the company saying it curates more than $1.5 billion. The Defiant quoted about $1.42 billion. The figures are close and not identical. Neither is your compensation.
Employer stated
Own risk parameters: caps, LLTV, concentration, VaR, and de-risking that pulls risk when conditions deteriorate.
Reading
This is the control. A strategy without a pull-back is not what they wrote.
Tarun Chitra is co-founder and CEO. The Block reported on 9 July 2026 that SBI Holdings was the sole investor in a $125 million Series C, with no post-money disclosed. The Defiant added that the firm was last valued at $1 billion in a 2022 Series B of roughly $24 million, and that Gauntlet did not disclose a Series C valuation. Use the 2022 mark as history. Do not invent the new one.
The posting is unusually honest about the work: RWAs, leveraged lending, yield, cross-protocol allocation, perpetuals, prediction markets. That is a wide book. Your leverage is to ask which sleeve you would actually run, and what the pager looks like when a collateral asset gaps.
Ninety days — illustrative
Not the employer’s onboarding plan.
- Days 1–30: read one live strategy until you can say what would make it cut risk.
- Days 31–60: a parameter change you simulated before it touched capital.
- Days 61–90: one on-call week for a strategy you understand, written up without drama.
A week you can rehearse
- Walk a vault from design doc to the metric that would page you.
- Say what you would refuse to list as collateral.
- Ask the cash range. It is not on the page.
Ask them
- What is the salary range for my city?
- Was a valuation set on the July 2026 round, and is it the one on the grant?
- Which strategies are in this seat, and what is the on-call?
Walk away if
- Models are handed to another team to ship.
- TVL is described as revenue.
- Remote means a country they cannot employ you in, discovered after you resign.
Proof you can build before you apply
- The state-machine lab, plus a one-page risk limit. Illustrative. Not their book.

- The Block: the company said it curates more than $1.5 billion and works with more than 150 fintechs and institutions. The posting says $1.5B+ client TVL. The Defiant, the same week, quoted $1.42 billion and a DefiLlama figure. The numbers are close and not identical. Do not pretend they are one audit.
Gauntlet used to be known for telling protocols how to set their risk parameters. The posting on this desk is a later business: the firm runs the vaults, and the quant developer is the person who ships a strategy into them and then gets paged. That is a trading job with a DeFi wrapper. Python, simulation, SQL, and the judgment not to trust a model you have not run against a fork. The $1.5 billion-plus line is the employer's description of other people's money. You would be closer to it than a research blog implies.
On 9 July 2026 SBI Holdings wrote a $125 million cheque as the only investor. Valuation not disclosed. The Defiant reminded readers of a 2022 mark near $1 billion on a much smaller round. A single strategic investor and a withheld price is a different cap table from a party round. It can be patient capital. It can also be a governance fact. The req appeared two weeks later. Pay is not on it. Locations are New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or remote — remote of where, the posting does not fully say. Ask before you assume a visa.
Founders
Tarun Chitra
Co-founder and CEO
The public quant behind the firm. He told The Block he expects vaults and tokenization to outgrow stablecoins as a category. The seat is how that sentence becomes a position with a liquidation price. He is not hiring a researcher to hand a model to someone else. The posting says so.
What the company sells
Vaults
The product. Strategies for RWAs, leveraged lending, yield, cross-protocol allocation, perpetuals, prediction markets — the posting's list, not a promise that all of them are yours.
The seat
From thesis to code to deployment to the on-call. Python. Forked-chain simulation before capital moves. Risk parameters you own: caps, LLTV, VaR, de-risking.
What changed in July

2022
Series B, as later coverage described it
About $24 million at $1 billion
The Defiant, reporting the 2026 round, said Gauntlet was last valued at $1 billion in 2022 on a raise of roughly $24 million. That is a secondary description of an old round, not the 2022 announcement re-read here. Useful as a prior mark. Not gospel.
9 Jul 2026
Series C
$125 million, valuation not disclosed
The Block: SBI Holdings was the sole investor. Use of proceeds includes MXN and JPY stablecoin coverage, new products, and hiring. No post-money. Three months later the quant req, created 24 July 2026, was still up.
What should change your mind
- Client capital. A bad parameter is not a unit-test failure.
- Valuation withheld on a round that just closed. Your grant is a guess until they show the strike.
- TVL figures that do not match across outlets in the same month. Ask for the definition.
- On-call for strategies you own. The posting is explicit.
Ask them
- What is the Series C post-money, and did SBI take a board right?
- How is the $1.5B+ counted, and what is the drawdown policy when you are wrong?
- Remote from which countries?
- What share of the book would a new hire actually touch in the first quarter?

If a figure is not in those sources, it is not in this brief on purpose.
What the employer actually wrote
Employer stated. Quant developer who designs, codes, deploys, and on-calls the vault strategies. The employer states the book is $1.5B+ of client TVL.
- Design and ship vault strategies: take a strategy from thesis and design doc through implementation, simulation, deployment, and live operation — RWAs, leveraged lending, yield aggregation, cross-protocol allocation, perpetuals, prediction markets, and new product types we haven't built yet.
- Optimize strategies: signals research, execution optimization, gas-aware rebalancing across tokens and chains, liquidity and duration management.
- Run protocol and asset due diligence: evaluate new protocols, collateral assets, and chains for inclusion in strategies — solvency mechanics, oracle design, redemption paths, liquidity depth, and more.
- Own risk parameters: supply caps, LLTV settings, concentration limits, VaR-based exposure models, and automated de-risking logic that pulls positions when conditions deteriorate.
- Integrate new protocols and chains: build and validate adapters for lending markets, DEX aggregators, and bridges; verify strategy behavior against forked-chain simulation before capital touches it.

A reading of the work
Blockchain Lab analysis. These lines are a reading of the advertisement. They are not extra hiring requirements.
- You own the strategy in production, including the page.
- The $1.5B+ line is the employer’s. Ask how it is counted.
- A backtest that was not run against a fork is not the posting.
Still not disclosed
- Anything the compensation line does not already quote. A printed band is the employer’s sentence for the place they named — not a Blockchain Lab estimate, and not a promise for every location on the posting.
- A later edit date. Lever exposed when the posting was created, not when it was last refreshed.
- Which countries may apply. “Remote” alone is not worldwide eligibility. If the employer wrote a country or a region, that sentence is theirs — still ask which entity can hire you.
- Visa sponsorship, the real on-call rota, and the employing subsidiary, unless the posting already named them.
