Rights
Public on the internet is not a licence.
Linking, hosting, HTML transcription, site search, retrieval, and model training are different acts. This corpus allows the first, keeps legacy files where they already were, and refuses the rest until a licence is written down.
| Label | What it would mean | Used in this corpus |
|---|---|---|
| Public domain | Copyright expired, waived, or clearly dedicated. Jurisdiction still matters. | No record carries this label. |
| Licensed for redistribution | A licence that actually permits the copy, with its attribution rules. | No record carries this label. |
| Official external source only | Link to the publisher. Metadata and original commentary. No HTML transcription. | The design-paper studies, which this site does not host as PDFs. |
| Rights uncertain | The historic library already had a file, or the licence is not on the document. Full text stays off the HTML page. | Bitcoin, the Ethereum PDF, Interledger, Corda, and the other historic files. |
| Metadata only | Index line, source, and a correction path. Used when even a short characterisation would overclaim. | Reserved. The current historic notes still say what the old index said. |
What Blockchain Lab will not do
No model is trained on these papers from this site. No assistant retrieves chunks of them. Quotations of source text are not published on the corpus pages.
Legacy PDF paths stay, because removing them would break the old library. Keeping a path is not a finding that the file is in the public domain.
A takedown request goes to info@blockchainlab.com and is handled under the corrections policy.
