Two designs, the question they actually answer, and the reason they are not substitutes.
- CurrentCosmos and Polkadot do not solve the same problem.One lets each chain keep its own validator set. The other offers a relay that checks many chains. Interoperability is not one product.
- CurrentA STARK and a SNARK are different proofs.Ask what is hidden, what is posted, and whether someone had to generate a setup that must not leak. Do not ask which badge is more private.
- CurrentPlasma withholds the data. A rollup is supposed to publish it.Both use the parent chain as a court. They split on whether a user can reconstruct the state when the operator is hostile.
- CurrentLightning is a channel. The chain is the dispute.An on-chain payment settles when it is in a block you accept as final. A Lightning payment settles between the channel parties until one of them publishes the state.
