GitHub licence API reported LGPL-3.0 on 2026-10-01. LGPL has conditions on linking and on modifications. That is a lawyer's question before a proprietary product ships the code. Blockchain Lab has not audited this repository. A licence check is not a vulnerability scan, a dependency review, or a security audit.
Do not copy geth into a proprietary distribution until counsel has read the LGPL terms.
Reuse status
Research available. Review required.
Copyleft, mixed terms, a dated dual licence, or a repository whose maintainer record is not settled. Legal review would be required before any copy. The scan gates are also unmet.

Go Ethereum (geth) is conditional. Copyleft, mixed terms, or a maintainer caveat still needs a legal reading, and the scan gates are unmet. Non-commercial or demo use does not remove the licence duty. When in doubt, link — do not copy.
Use
- Running an execution client
- Reading how a client is structured, without copying it into a proprietary distribution
Do not use for
- Automatic incorporation into a closed-source product
Risks
- Licence conditions and operational risk are separate. Both can block a release.
Reviews required
- Legal review before reuse
- Operations review if you run it
No source code is reproduced on this page. No commit SHA is published, because this release did not pin one.
